Bring your ideas to life
In this hands-on animation workshop, participants will discover the magic of stop-motion by creating characters, building simple scenes, and transforming their ideas into short animated sequences.
Participants will experiment with clay animation, paper cutouts, and pixilation – using their own bodies as animated characters. Along the way, they will explore movement, timing, storytelling, composition, and visual problem-solving while working independently and collaboratively. The workshop encourages imagination, experimentation, and playful filmmaking from the first idea to the final frame.
Materials
Each participant must have access to a camera and a tripod or camera stand for creating the animations during the class. A phone camera works as well.

Joshua Eliaou Tuil
Joshua Tuil is a figurative artist, caricaturist, and creative mentor based in Nanaimo, BC. With experience teaching children, teens, and adults, he helps students build strong drawing fundamentals, confidence, and their own creative voice. His teaching combines clear professional guidance with a warm, flexible, and encouraging approach that supports different abilities and learning styles. Josh uses drawing not only as an artistic skill, but also as a tool for observation, storytelling, problem-solving, and self-expression.
