Where Real Animals Meet Wild Imagination
What happens when the features of real animals are mixed with unexpected ideas? In this playful drawing workshop, participants will explore animal shapes, movement, textures, expressions, and personalities while inventing creatures of their own.
Through guided drawing games and creative experiments, participants will combine familiar features in surprising ways – a bird with enormous feet, an underwater cat, or a creature no one has ever seen before. The workshop encourages curiosity, builds confident, and imaginative thinking while introducing simple foundations of animal and character design.
Materials
All materials will be provided. Participants will work with graphite pencils, black drawing pens, coloured pencils, markers, sketch paper, and heavier drawing paper for their final creature designs.

Joshua Eliaou Tuil
Joshua Tuil is a figurative artist, caricaturist, and creative mentor based in Nanaimo, BC. With experience teaching children, teens, and adults, he helps students build strong drawing fundamentals, confidence, and their own creative voice. His teaching combines clear professional guidance with a warm, flexible, and encouraging approach that supports different abilities and learning styles. Josh uses drawing not only as an artistic skill, but also as a tool for observation, storytelling, problem-solving, and self-expression.
