A Joy for Painting: 70 Works of Art Come to the Ladysmith Gallery

Art Show: “For the Love of Art, for the Joy of It!” arrives at the Ladysmith Gallery on May 22 that will feature a group of eleven established, mid-Vancouver Island artists. Approximately 70 paintings will portray their individual creative approaches and, above all, share their joy for painting. Paintings range in subject and size, including smaller pieces and art cards for smaller budgets. Whether a collector, an art lover or just art-curious, come for the fun of a cultural outing, on your own or with friends. There will be a opening on the first day from 5 PM - 9 PM and the show will run till June 2 with hours of 10 AM - 4 PM daily.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and chat with the artists—Sylvie Bart, Sarah Boileau, Trudy Broadley, Maureen Coles, Janice Evans, Zann Hemphill, Claudia Lohman, Charlotte Mougeot, Marilyn Strongitharm, Catherine Taron, and Eileen Williamson. Each has exhibited in shows and galleries across the Island and in Vancouver. They are members of the Federation of Canadian Artists, as well as being actively involved in other local artist groups. Many have won awards for their art in juried shows. They all share a love of art, and the joy of connecting with the world through painting and storytelling. All are companions on a journey of discovery, with a continual exploration of their preferred medium.

Each day of the show, there will be at least one exhibiting artist present at the gallery. On many days there will also be an artist painting, sketching or drawing, and open to your questions. Artists love to talk about their inspirations, techniques and journeys as artists, and all are unique.

This art show runs from May 22 - June 2 at the Ladysmith Gallery, 32 High St. Downtown Ladysmith. Admission is free, donations are welcome to support the gallery space in providing these opportunities for artists.
