SUMMARY:Beyond Drypoint - playing with Intaglio Printing
DESCRIPTION:For those who enjoy the elegance of ‘the Line’ and the variety of textures and valuesthat can be created with this basic element of design and for those who love to draw\,doodle or maybe just scribble this workshop will show you how simple tools applied toplastic plates can enable you to create original hand made prints of your treasuredimages. \n\n\n\nDrypoint printmaking is an Intaglio technique. This means that the printed marks arethose transferred to the paper from the incised\, or lower level of the plate\, the relief orupper surface having been wiped clean. \n\n\n\nIn this one day workshop participants will create drypoint prints working on plastic plateswith carborundum drypoint needles. Areas of tone are created with hatching\, stipplingas well as sanding and toner wash ‘aquatints’. We will then learn how to ink and wipethe plates to make our prints. In the afternoon we will try out some ‘add ons’ includingmulti-drop inking and chine colle\, Studio and etching press protocol will be reviewed aswell as the tradition of signing and numbering prints. \n\n\n\nAll materials will be provided.

SUMMARY:Wearable Art Infinity Shrug
DESCRIPTION:Creating a wearable art piece from fibres such as Merino wool and silk through the process of wet felting is a playful\, meditative\, creative and rewarding experience. Join experienced felter and educator\, Donna L Bennett as she guides participants through the process of creating a nuno felted infinity shrug (looped scarf). Nuno felting is the process of laminating wool roving through a fine woven textile simply through felting (no stitching or gluing required). Unlike traditional felt\, which is fairly dense\, nuno felt is a very light textile with a beautiful drape and gloss from the silk along with the warmth and durability ofthe felted wool. Included in the workshop is Donna’s small batch hand dyed rarified Margilan silk gauze that participants will use as a base for their infinity shrug. \n\n\n\nSuitable for beginners and intermediate felters. Participants will develop the skill of using a resist to create a dimensional piece\, layering silk to enhance the design and manipulate the finished size\, and in creating a light weight garment with a precise and polished surface finish. \n\n\n\nList of equipment:Please do not wear clothing with loose\, dangling sleeves but do wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet (a water repellent apron is an option but not essential). Bring an old bath towel and a large bag in which to take your piece home (it will still be wet at the end of the session). Too\, you may wish to bring hearing protection as hand sander power tools will be used throughout the workshop. \n\n\n\nNote the felting process requires prolonged standing and bending from the waist which can be challenging on the back. Participants will work through the session without taking a long break so please bring snacks or a lunch you can eat on the run.

SUMMARY:Botanical Relief Workshop: From Clay to Plaster
DESCRIPTION:In this unique hands-on workshop\, you’ll explore the beautiful process of preserving nature’s textures through clay and plaster. \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin by creating a soft clay slab and arranging a selection of botanical materials such as flowers\, leaves\, ferns\, and grasses onto the surface. \n\n\n\nOnce the clay relief is complete\, we’ll carefully pour plaster over the surface. As the plaster sets\, it captures every detail from the clay impression\, transforming the fragile botanical textures into a permanent plaster relief. \n\n\n\nAfter the plaster hardens\, the clay is removed\, revealing a one-of-a-kind botanical casting with incredible depth and detail. You’ll learn about the relationship between positive and negative space\, texture\, and the fascinating process of creating a sculptural artwork from natural materials. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is a wonderful blend of nature\, sculpture\, and craftsmanship\, an opportunity to slow down\, experiment\, and create a timeless piece inspired by the beauty of the world around us.

SUMMARY:Mixed Media Collage: Flower Bouquet
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a playful and creative mixed media class! Using a combination of acrylic paint and torn paper collage\, you’ll create a vibrant flower bouquet on canvas. \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin by creating a painted background\, lightly sketching the bouquet\, and adding a background colour to prepare the canvas for collage. Once the paint is dry\, you’ll explore torn paper collage techniques—choosing from a variety of hand-printed papers\, then tearing\, layering\, and arranging them to build a colourful floral bouquet. \n\n\n\nThis class is perfect for beginners (no experience needed!) as well as experienced artists looking to explore a new medium. Step-by-step instruction is provided throughout\, with plenty of room for creativity and personal expression. \n\n\n\nAll materials are provided. The class includes a 30-minute break\, so feel free to bring a lunch.
