About the Event

Nuno felting is the process of wet-felting wool roving through a woven textile such as silk gauze or cotton scrim. The result of creating a nuno felted item, in contrast with traditional felting, is a much lighter finished piece with a wonderful drape and, depending on the fibre of the woven base, a subtle gloss or a ruched texture to one side of the project. This workshop is suitable for those new to felting or new to nuno felting, and participants will experiment with layout, design, texture and inclusions (prefelt, silk hankies, upcycled fabrics, yarns and silk roving) on a fabric such as rarified or excelsior silk. Supplies for the day's project, including hand and commercially dyed 19-micron Merino wool, the textile base, silk hankies, and various inclusions will be provided by the instructor.
