About the Event

This four-hour course provides an introduction to various papier-mâché techniques, covering materials, armature construction, paper and paper pulp application, mold usage, and painting. With easily accessible materials, this medium offers a versatile creative process that can range from simple to highly intricate.


Participants will receive detailed visual and written handouts summarizing key concepts from the workshop, enabling them to continue creating independently. By the end of the session, each participant will have one or more pieces to complete at home.


About Your Instructor:


Iris Churcher is an artist and educator with a background in graphic design, illustration, glass, and ceramics. She holds a BA in Graphic Design and MAs in both Illustration and Glass & Ceramics. With 18 years of experience teaching art and design at Vancouver Island University (formerly Malaspina University-College), she has also worked extensively as a professional illustrator.
