About the Event
This Pro-D Day workshop combines drawing exercises with drama games to explore facial elements and expressions. Students will learn different ways to draw a face and play with pareidolia (finding faces in everyday objects). They will draw faces using blind contour methods, scribbles and rubbings, learn about facial proportions, and point of view. We'll go on a treasure hunt looking for faces in our environment. Using collaborative games, they will play with facial expressions and learn how our facial muscles create emotions, and how these can be translated in 2-D and 3-D form. Students will experiment with drawing a number of different faces and will create a three-dimensional head using paper and tape.
Please Bring:
- a full waterbottle and a nut-free snack
- clothes that can get paint and glue on them
- a sweater, jacket, or hat for exploring outside (depending on the weather)
