About the Event

Play with clay all day, and have a ball doing it! Learn all about the process of handbuilding a functional piece of pottery from start to finish; experiment and add texture, detail, and personality under the guidance of instructor Karen Dance. Create a fun and infinitely loveable character mug to be proud of. After a lunchbreak, add additional details and colour to your piece. Karen will fire and glaze your masterpiece, and we will notify you when it's ready for pickup.

Please Bring:

  • A full water bottle and a bagged lunch
  • Clothes that can get a bit messy

Karen Dance works out of her Ladysmith pottery studio, Tilted Kilnworks. Her one-of-a-kind vessels are hand-formed using a variety of methods, such as pinch, coil and slab work. She also creates her own tools and texturizing mats in order to customize her characters. Thoughtful applications of different glazes and stains are used to render depth and create textures that invite touch and endeavour to captivate the viewer. Each piece is given, through its creation, a personality that aims to elicit an emotional response and evoke humour.
