About the Event
Come and learn the Italic hand! The italic alphabet originated in Italy during the Renaissance. The letters are beautiful and graceful, quite different from the heavier gothic hand that was used during that time. In this four-week course, we will become familiar with the lowercase letters and explore the capitals as well, all the while using a dip pen and ink! Develop or expand your calligraphy skills, and learn to pen beautiful letters to customize any project.
Please Bring the Following:
- scissors
- pencil
- metal ruler
- eraser
- optional: if you have calligraphic pens or inks on hand, you are welcome to bring them as well.
Other materials will be provided by the instructor.
Meet Your Instructor, Carolynn Dallaire
Over the last thirty years, it has been my pleasure to learn more and more about two of my favourite passions: bookbinding and calligraphy. It continues to be a delight to take boards, text paper, decorative paper and make a journal to use for a notebook, a special occasion, a trip or daily use. Exploring the many alphabets of calligraphy never ceases to amaze me. As the years have rolled by, I’ve enjoyed learning more about these two artistic fields and have had the opportunity to teach many topics within these two artistic areas.
